Lakshmi Keshav Temple, Kolisare

To understand the real sense of the words quiet, pure and delightful, you must visit the temple of Shree Lakshmi Keshav which is located at Kolisre in the Ratnagiri district. While going from Jaigad towards the Chaphe Fata, you can find the Kolisare village to your left. The village is situated at a distance of 46 kilometres from Ratnagiri. The Laxmi Keshav temple of Lord Vishnu and the area around it is engulfed in such a dense green cover that it is almost impossible to believe that there is village undergrowth.

The idol of God Lakshmi Keshav is antique. This idol which is about 5 feet tall was made from black and brownish Shaligram stone found in the Gandki river in Nepal and is one of the most beautiful inventions of a sculptors. The engravings of the Dashavatar (10 symbolic appearances of Lord Vishnu) made on the idol are mesmerizing. This pleasant and beautiful idol instantly attracts your mind. It is one of the most beautiful idols of lord Vishnu in Maharashtra state.

Lakshmi Keshav Temple of Kolisare is at a distance of 18 kms from Ganpatipule and 40 kms from Ratnagiri city. Kolisare Laxmi Keshav Temple gives us spiritual happiness. Tourists travel to this village in April-May due to the hills surrounded by green and the comparatively low temperatures during summer. The magnificence of Kolisare village is very similar to a thick forest. There is such a huge tree plant in the village that there is confusion about whether a village is situated in an affluent forest.

The stream of water that flows throughout the year under the Lakshmi Keshav temple is anointed as ‘Teertha’ or the holy water. ‘Aap’ which means water is one of the most important of the 5 essential elements of life which are known as the “Panchamahabhutas”.
