The South part of Ratnagiri district, bordering Rajapur district, presents some less crowded destinations. Away from the limelight, these destinations are on the wish-list of wanderers. A short drive from Ratnagiri takes us to a beautiful and secluded beach near Pavas. The coastal route from Ratnagiri to Rajapur takes us to the beautiful sparkling beach of Gavkhadi. Green hills around the beach make it more panoramic. Chirping birds & sound of waves gives out mesmerizing memories. Gavkhadi village is a beautiful small village and the villagers are very friendly & helpful.
The beach is surrounded by lush green hills & trees. A well-maintained pine forest is a key to happiness. The entrance through the green tall trees leads to the vast expanse of the Arabian Sea. Being less crowded without hawkers or water sports, the beach presents us with sounds of nature, crashing waves, and chirping birds. A turtle conservation project is ongoing at this very beach.
