Maharashtra’s coastline stretches on for a glorious 720 km and along it are many pristine beaches which are worth exploring. One of them is the Aaravali beach located near the village of Aaravali in Sindhudurg. The magnificent beach is unique as it is surrounded by hills on three sides.

Crystal clear waters, white sands and lush greenery, this is the visual treat that is Aaravali Beach. This beach is one of the gems in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra. Even though tourists and locals visit it from time to time, you are sure to find certain pockets of complete isolation where you can spend a moment of peace and solitude. It’s a less-crowded alternative to beaches in Goa and features local fish markets and opportunities to enjoy cashew-based treats.

The beach has a sandy path leading up to it and is surrounded by green hills from three sides. The waters are crystal clear and calm which makes it safe for playing around or swimming. If you explore a little more, you will come across an area where the backwaters intersect with the beach. This is by far the calmest part of the beach.
There are also many cashew, jackfruit, berry, palm, coconut and mango groves by the shore where you can take a walk and soak in some Vitamin Green. The beach is always neat and clean and has a cool breeze flowing and makes for a great picnic spot.

The stark white sands with the backdrop of the green hills makes it perfect for a photography session. And if you want to explore more, you can check out the Aravali village which is host to some famous temples like Vetoba and Mhasoba.
While the water is clear, be aware of potentially strong currents and consult with locals before entering into the sea. The period from September to February is considered the peak season with pleasant weather, while the off-season (March-May) offers lighter crowds and potential discounts.

You may not be able to find trendy hotels or resorts adjacent to Aaravali beach as the options are limited here. However, tented resorts and homestays that offer comfortable stay at affordable prices will make up for it with their warm hospitality.
Visitors can explore the nearby Shri Vetoba Temple and Sateri Devi Mandir in Aravali village, which are among the most popular pilgrimage sites in Sindhudurg.
