Moti Talav

This beautiful lake constructed in front of the Sawantwadi Palace is a haven for nature lovers. Moti means pearl. Enchanting landscape is formed by the pleasing green hills all around this pearl of the Sawantwadi town. Boating can be enjoyed here.  One can enjoy a delightful moment here after sunset. As the sun sets, streetlights are switched on at once around the complete periphery of the lake.

About Moti Talav

Moti Talao is a majestic lake constructed right in front of the Sawantwadi Palace in 1874. It is a pride of the Sawantwadi town. If Sawantwadi is a beauty then Moti Talav can be called its majestic beauty spot. This graceful lake with a newly renovated garden nearby summons the mortals with divine elegance and imperial diktat.

 

Surrounded by emerald hills and a belt of mango and palm trees, the Moti Talav looks nothing less than a lone pearl amidst a bunch of rocks. It is built in front of The Royal Palace and tourists can't miss this beautiful lake situated at the centre of the township. It is a popular spot for tourists to enjoy boat rides, water sports and the jogging track. Encircling the lake is a well-manicured garden blooming with lovely flowers, tiny fountains, and life-size statues. Tourists can take a round of the lake in peddle boats or sit around it and gaze at the beautiful view.

 

 It is a good place to go peddling or just absorb the vibes of the city. A 150 years old walkway near the lake gives you a place to stand and stare. KAVI KATTA is a place built right between the lake , where various narrators come and write their poems and novels .Kavi VASANT SAWANT used to sit under a mango tree and write poems by looking at this lake Kavi Katta was built in his memory which is also carved on the walls of the structure. Many poets and writers have found inspiration in this very place! 

 

The access to the lake is open 24 hours however it is advisable to visit during 9 am - 8.30 pm to enjoy optimum fun.
