Kunkeshwar Beach is a beautiful beach located in the Kunkeshwar village, 14 Km from Devgad town. The beach is close to the famous temple of Lord Shiva and is also known as Kunkeshwar Temple. The pristine beach is surrounded by lush greenery and offers a breathtaking view of the Arabian Sea.

About Kunkeshwar Beach

A sun-baked beach with vast stretch of white sand makes Kunkeshwar beach a favourite place of tourists. This white sand beach is very clean and the crystal clear water makes it perfect for swimming and sunbathing. However, visitors are advised to be cautious as the waves can be rough sometimes.

 

Kunkeshwar is a typical Konkani village with a serene feel, sandy beaches and shiny sea water sited 14 Kms from Devgad Taluka of Sindhudurg District in Maharastra, and is famous for its mythological significance.

 

Most famous as Konkan Kashi or Dakshin Kashi, this pristine beach leads you to the beguiling temple of Lord Shiva, Destroyer or Transformer among the Trimurti, named as Kunkeshwar Mandir.

 

While heading towards the temple, you can’t see the seashore. As soon as you go behind, a long stretch of seashore of white sand and crystal clear water welcomes you… that makes a best and real pleasant surprise for you never ever seen… anywhere…

 

Close to the beach, there are many mango orchards and the region is particularly known for its delicious Alphonso Mangoes. There are also several accommodation options available near the beach where you can relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of the place.

 

The best time to visit this beach is between October and February when the weather is pleasant. The beach is also a part of many local festivals and celebrations which give tourists an insight into the culture and traditions of the local people.

To reach Kunkeshwar Beach, you can take a train to Kankavli Railway Station which is the nearest railway station. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Kunkeshwar village. If you prefer to travel by air, then the nearest airport is Dabolim Airport in Goa, which is approximately 170 km away from Kunkeshwar.
