The story of this temple goes as follows. There was once a demon named Vratsaru. He was very strong, merciless and cruel. The people were tired of his cruelty. He was said to be ruling the whole earth. Once, he invaded heaven and forced Indradev to flee from heaven. Indradev ran to the trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh), who asked Indradev to surrender to Goddess Parvati. Indradev went to Devi Parvati and told her everything that happened. When the incident was told to Devi, she accepted Indradev’s plea & called the demon for battle. Then Goddess Parvati incarnated as Aryadurga Devi and killed the demon.
The other story of this temple goes as follows. There lived a person named Palasule Desai in Devihasol village. He was a devotee of Goddess Aryadurga. He used to visit Ankola (Karnataka) every year to receive blessings of Aryadurga Devi. But in his old age he was not able to do so & the frequency of his visit to the temple narrowed. Once when he was on a visit to the temple, while leaving after taking Devi’s blessings, Devi gave him darshan and said to him that henceforth he doesn't have to come for so long for her blessings. She said she will follow him to his village but on one condition. Until they reach their desired desination he should not look back, no matter what. When Desai came to the village, he heared the sound of payal. Out of curiosity he turned back and the goddess settled down at the same place and since then, it is said that Aryadurga Devi Temple was established in Devihasol village.
